The purification and properties of a thyroid-stimulating factor isolated from Clostridium perfringens.

چکیده
Cultures of Clostridium perfringens produce a factor that stimulates the thyroid. The stimulating factor has been purified 300-fold by fractionation of the growth medium with ammonium sulfate, filtration on Sephadex G-100, and chromatography on diethylaminoethyl cellulose. The purified factor contains no proteolytic activity, and has been separated from neuraminidase and lecithinase C. When incubated with thyroid slices the purified factor, like thyroidstimulating hormone stimulates glucose-lJ4C oxidation, phospholipid synthesis, and the formation of intracellular colloid droplets. When injected into chicks, the factor causes the depletion of radioiodine. The factor is thought to be a protein since its activity is destroyed by treatment with Pronase. Its behavior on Sephadex G-100 suggests a molecular weight of about 30,000.

Genotyping of Clostridium perfringens isolated from broiler meat in northeastern of Iran
Clostridium perfringens is an important cause of bacterial food poisoning worldwide. The disease is caused by C. perfringens enterotoxin (CPE) encoded by cpe gene. The aim of this research was to identify the different types of C. perfringens and the presence of cpe gene in isolated bacteria from broilers’ meat marketed in retail meat shops of Mashha...

Abstract Background and purpose: Clostridium perfringens is one of the pathogenic bacterial factors in animals and one of the important causes for food poisoning in human. The essence of P.atlanticaSubsp. Kurdica fruit or wild pistachios has been recognized as an anti- microbial compound against most of micro-ore anti-organisms. The purpose of this research is to determine the anti-microbial a...
متن کاملMolecular typing of toxigenic Clostridum perfringens isolated from sheep in Iran
In this research a molecular method based on polymerase chain reaction for typing of Clostridium perfringens was developed and toxin genotypes of 64 isolates from sheep and goats in Iran were determined. The PCR assays were developed for detection of alpha (cpa), beta (cpb) and epsilon (etx) toxin genes, allowing classification of the isolates into genotypes A B, C and D. The field isolates ...

Clostridium perfringens is an important pathogen that provokes numerous different diseases. This bacterium is classified into five various types, each of which capable of causing a distinct disease. There are various methods for the bacterial identification, many are labor-intensive, time-consuming, expensive and also show low sensitivity and specificity. The aim of this research was to identif...
متن کاملGenomic diversity of Clostridium perfringens strains isolated from food and human sources
Clostridium perfringens is a serious pathogen which causes enteric diseases in domestic animals and food poisoning in humans. Spores can survive cooking processes and play an important role in the possible onset of disease. In this study, RAPD-PCR and REPPCR were used to examine the genetic diversity of 49 isolates of C. perfringens type A from three different sources. The results of RAPD-PCR r...
